Synthetic Aperture Radar High Resolution Imaging when Performing Random Nonrepeating Radar Orbits

Abstract
AnTrust has developed an innovative Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image Change Detection (CD) solution which allows for subsequent images to be the input when captured along randomized and non-repeating orbits, or flight profiles or flight paths. Current CD techniques require flying the same flight profile every time, a lethal approach within a high-threat environment. Our flexible solution, which leverages our prior legacy experience with coherent SAR processing, can be readily integrated into existing flight systems and does not require computationally intensive resources, thus enabling a lightweight software solution for edge deployment. In the Phase I Base, AnTrust demonstrated their successful change detection solution. To accomplish this key objective, we first developed a method to simulate common SAR imagery of reference and test scene inputs, using this atypical concept of operations. AnTrust then created a novel and robust change detection solution, executed the algorithm through a suite of analytical studies, and performed several validations of our solution. This solution will be matured further during a Phase II and validated with additional measured data. A field demonstration of this solution will be conducted during the Phase II Option. After that upcoming success, a Phase III transition can address an operational demonstration applicable to the Navy s and overall government s interested platforms.
Research Objective
The goal of phase II is to continue the R&D efforts initiated in Phase I. Funding is based on the results achieved in Phase I and the scientific and technical merit and commercial potential of the project proposed in Phase II.
