Title
Aircraft Low Observable Battle-Damage Repair
Abstract
Triton Systems proposes to develop, demonstrate and transition a simple-to-use, compact repair kit (that leverages our current commercial products and their modifications) to enable rapid, in-field low-observable (LO) repair of battle damage on naval aircraft in contested environments with minimal logistical burden. Highly resilient logistics are required to improve operations in contested environments for extended periods of time and to support distributed naval forces down to the last tactical mile. LO maintenance involves repairs of the materials/coatings that are critical for ensuring aircraft survivability. Our solutions will simplify and accelerate these maintenance tasks and require minimal equipment and supplies. We have already developed and transitioned several solutions for LO applications on military aircraft. Compared to conventional technology, our solutions dramatically accelerate the installation and repair processes and enhance aircraft availability a key metric. Triton s commercial-scale products offer unique benefits including high strength, broad temperature use range, high fluids resistance, repositionability for ease of application, clean peel and a long shelf-life for these applications. We will use our extensive knowledge base, experience, and capabilities in this space to produce repair kits that will simplify and accelerate LO repair tasks, with most tasks requiring no additional equipment, which is vitally important in contested logistics environments. In Phase I, we will refine the baseline requirements across multiple platforms, identify modifications to our commercial products required for implementation, and develop a test plan to demonstrate and validate the modified products on the selected platform. In Phase I Option, we will develop the initial product modifications and perform application process evaluation and refinement, as needed. This effort will provide a strong basis for a successful Phase II program.
Research Objective
The goal of phase I is to establish the technical merit, feasibility, and commercial potential of proposed R&D efforts and determine the quality of performance of the small business awardee organization.
