Title
Smart Susceptor Heating Blankets for Composite Aircraft Repair in a Contested Environment
Abstract
The focus of the proposed work is to automate the heating process of composite battle-damage repairs in a contested environment. This will be accomplished by using Temper s Smart Susceptor heating blanket technology as a true set it and forget it operation. Current composite repair processes require the temperature constantly monitored and adjusted by adding or removing insulation during the curing of the composite repair. This requires an experienced technician for up to 14 hours. Temper s Smart Susceptor process is different. With the Smart Susceptor repair system, after the heating blanket is setup, the operator simply selects a recipe, presses a button, and walks away. This is possible because the underlying physics of the processes makes overheating impossible!
Research Objective
The goal of phase I is to establish the technical merit, feasibility, and commercial potential of proposed R&D efforts and determine the quality of performance of the small business awardee organization.
