Abstract
Human Systems Integration (HSI), a leading developer and provider of garment-integrated, wearable electronic solutions, will design, develop and field a comfortable, affordable and robust Tactical Digital Sidekick (TacDS) garment platform that integrates any desired number of tactile/haptic actuators of the same or different technologies that dramatically enhances situation awareness (SA) for Submarine Watchstanders. Our TacDS solution will provide Digital Watchstanders the ability to receive data via tactile and auditory channels, in conjunction with existing visual display modalities, to improve information understanding and thus, effective decision making. This multisensory assimilation exploits the inherent data fusion capabilities of the human brain to simultaneously understand multiple facets of the data, thus improving SA and decision-making for the Digital Submariner
Research Objective
The goal of phase I is to establish the technical merit, feasibility, and commercial potential of proposed R&D efforts and determine the quality of performance of the small business awardee organization. STTRs are completed in conjunction with a research institution.
