May 2025: BAE Systems Land & Armaments L.P., Minneapolis, Minnesota, was awarded a $22,220,190 firm-fixed-price contract for MK 41 Vertical Launching System MK 29 Mod 0 and Mod 1 canister production MK 41 VLS canister production requirements. This contract includes options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $317,211,632. This contract combines purchases for the U.S. (52%); and the government of Japan (48%), under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program. Work will be performed in Aberdeen, South Dakota (90%); and Minneapolis, Minnesota (10%), and is expected to be completed by July 2026. If all options are exercised, work will continue through July 2030. Fiscal 2024 defense-wide procurement funds in the amount of $11,554,499 (52%); and FMS (Japan) funds in the amount of $10,665,691 (48%), will be obligated at time of award and will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured via the System for Award Management website, with three offers received.
