Abstract
The Navy has identified a need for a deployment system for A-Sized and Extended A-Sized sonobuoys, as well as other devices that fit within this formfactor. The system should be low Size, Weight, Power and Cost (SWaP-C), and as well as modular and scalable for integration into various platforms, including craft and vessels of opportunity. Under Topic N241-034, Triton Systems, Inc. (experts in external launchers for Navy applications) propose to develop and demonstrate a pneumatic launcher system for extended A-Sized sonobuoys and other 5.5 projectiles. Based on previous work for external 6 countermeasures for Navy submarines, this pneumatic launch system presents a solution that is modular, safe, repeatable, and requires minimal power from the host platform.
Research Objective
The goal of phase I is to establish the technical merit, feasibility, and commercial potential of proposed R&D efforts and determine the quality of performance of the small business awardee organization.
