Government Description
Barracuda development. The work involves the manufacture, assembly, testing, and delivery of the barracuda mine neutralizer, a Modular, Low Cost, Semi-Autonomous, Expendable Device Conforming To the A-Size Sonobuoy Form Factor, Designed for Deployment From the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Mine Countermeasure (MCM) mission package and the MCM Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV). Tasks include production and integration of Components Such As Cable Assemblies, Harnesses, Metal Shipping Containers, Mechanical And Electrical Items, Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAS), molded and fabricated plastics, precision machined parts, lithium batteries, warheads, detonators, initiators, electromechanical assemblies, electric motors, computer software, optical windows, and test equipment. The effort also covers Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE), first article testing, qualification, tooling, technical and engineering services, and support for fleet training and neutralization operations from surface to deep water, day or night.

Raytheon Missiles & Defense, Portsmouth, Rhode Island, is awarded a $25,487,087 cost-plus-incentive-fee modification to previously awarded contract N00024-18-C-6300 to exercise options for Barracuda Mine Neutralization Systems. Work will be performed in Portsmouth, Rhode Island (98%); and McAlester, Oklahoma (2%), and is expected to be completed by June 2025. Fiscal 2023 research, development, test and evaluation (Navy) funds in the amount of $24,960,000 will be obligated at time of award and will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.
