Aug 2016: Huntington Ingalls Inc., Pascagoula, Mississippi, was awarded a $13,748,952 modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-14-C-2410) for LX(R) Amphibious Ship Replacement Program contract design engineering support.  LX(R) contract design efforts were previously awarded as an option under an LHA 8 contract (N00024-16-C-2427) and are being transferred and exercised under the existing LX(R) Early Industry Involvement contract for administrative purposes.  The LX(R) Amphibious Ship Replacement Program awarded early industry involvement contracts to two U.S. Shipyards (Huntington Ingalls Industries, Ingalls Shipbuilding Division and General Dynamics-NASSCO) that have the facilities and resources to build a large amphibious ship without major re-capitalization.  Ingalls will be required to perform design efforts, special studies, analyses, and reviews in support of the LX(R) Amphibious Ship Replacement Program Contract Design.  The tasking may include efforts related to systems engineering, marine engineering, naval architecture, cost estimating and computer modeling.   Work will be performed in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and is expected to be completed by September 2017.  Fiscal 2016 research, development, testing and evaluation (Navy) funds in the amount of $7,107,000 will be obligated at the time of award and funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, District of Columbia, is the contracting activity.  (Awarded August 26, 2016)

Oct 2016: Huntington Ingalls Inc., Ingalls Shipbuilding Division, Pascagoula, Mississippi, is being awarded a $120,000,000 fixed-price-incentive modification to previously awarded contract N00024-16-C-2427 for additional long lead time material in support of Landing Helicopter Assault (LHA) Replacement (LHA(R)) Flight 1 Amphibious Assault Ship (LHA 8).  Work procurement includes machinery control system components and software, cargo and aircraft elevators, gas turbines and refrigeration units.  Work will be performed in Cincinnati, Ohio (17 percent); and in other locations throughout the U.S. that are to be determined (83 percent), and is expected to be completed by June 2020.  Fiscal 2016 shipbuilding and conversion (Navy) funds in the amount of $120,000,000 will be obligated at time of award and will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, District of Columbia, is the contracting activity.

Jun 2017: Huntington Ingalls Inc., Pascagoula, Mississippi, is being awarded a $3,013,903,706 fixed-price-incentive modification to a previously awarded competitive contract (N00024-16-C-2427) to exercise options for the procurement of the detail, design, and construction of Landing Helicopter Assault (LHA) Replacement (LHA(R)) Flight 1 Amphibious Assault Ship (LHA 8).  Work will be performed in Pascagoula, Mississippi (70 percent); Beloit, Wisconsin (1 percent); Milwaukee, Wisconsin (1 percent); Baltimore, Maryland (1 percent); Fort Walton Beach, Florida (1 percent); King of Prussia, Pennsylvania (1 percent); York, Pennsylvania (1 percent); Cincinnati, Ohio (1 percent); and Brunswick, Georgia (1 percent), with other efforts performed at various sites throughout the U.S. (22 percent), and is expected to be completed by January 2024.  Fiscal 2016 and 2017 shipbuilding and conversion (Navy) funding in the amount of $1,154,247,187 will be obligated at award and will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. Dec 2021: Huntington Ingalls Inc. - Ingalls Shipbuilding, Pascagoula, Mississippi, is awarded a $60,425,462 not-to-exceed undefinitized contract action for integration of four Joint Strike Fighter engineering change proposals in support of one amphibious assault ship (General Purpose) replacement (LHA(R)) Flight 1 Ship (LHA 8). Work will be performed in Pascagoula, Mississippi (72%); Chesapeake, Virginia (25%); and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (3%), and is expected to be completed by July 2024. Fiscal 2018 shipbuilding and conversion (Navy) funds in the amount of $30,212,731 will be obligated at award and will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The obligation amount represents 50% of the not-to-exceed price, in accordance with Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation 217.7404-4 — limitations on obligations. This contract was not competitively procured in accordance with 10 U.S. Code 2304(c)(1) — only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirement.
