Government Description
MICROSYSTEMS INDUCED CATALYSIS (MICA) SUPPORTS RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF ADVANCED CONCEPTS FOR MODELING, SIMULATION, AND FABRICATION OF MICROSYSTEM-BASED CONTROL OF CATALYTIC MOLECULES. WORK PERFORMED INCLUDES DEVELOPING MULTISCALE MODELING AND SIMULATION TOOLS TO PREDICT CATALYTIC ACTIVITY IN RESPONSE TO MICROSYSTEM FORCES, AS WELL AS DESIGN AND FABRICATION METHODS FOR ACCURATE PLACEMENT AND ROBUST ATTACHMENT OF CATALYTIC MOLECULES TO MICROSYSTEMS FOR MULTI-CATALYST REACTION CASCADES. THE PROGRAM INTEGRATES MOLECULAR CATALYSTS WITH MICROSYSTEMS TO ENABLE REVOLUTIONARY ADVANCES IN SCIENCE, DEVICES, AND SYSTEMS, AND INCLUDES COLLABORATION WORKSHOPS TO FACILITATE TECHNICAL INFORMATION EXCHANGE BETWEEN TEAMS.
