Government Description
Zenith phase 2, the primary goals of the zenith program are to design, build and prove ground-based, tiltable, scalable, damage-resilient liquid mirrors to support future ground and space systems. Includes research and development of telescopes with reflective liquid primary surfaces that maintain a light-focusing shape even when tilted out-of-plane. These mirrors are intended to be dual-use for both space and ground telescope applications, available in monolithic and segmented designs, and require no motion to operate. Solutions that require thrust or rotation of the primary mirror or only offer incremental improvements to current technology are specifically excluded.
