Title
Low-Cost Single-Use Drone for Swarming
Abstract
Triton will continue development of a single use inexpensive long-endurance drone that can accept modular payloads and conduct a variety of missions. Triton's single use platform will be less than $5000 per unit including the launch mechanism, have open-source embedded systems, and low logistical burden (e.g., ad hoc payload integration and high vehicle density shipping). Triton's extreme low cost ILED platform enables large swarm manufacturing. The drones will be U.S. developed and manufactured and will comply with Section 848 of the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act. In the Phase II effort, Triton will develop, build and test six prototype vehicles and one launch system, with full flight demonstration to validate the system performance meets or exceeds government metrics.
Research Objective
The goal of phase II is to continue the R&D efforts initiated in Phase I. Funding is based on the results achieved in Phase I and the scientific and technical merit and commercial potential of the project proposed in Phase II.
