H6 - develop ultra-small, low-power, fieldable clocks that can maintain their timing precision for one week. Includes designing, producing, and optimizing Radio Frequency (RF) oscillator application specific integrated circuits (ASICS) for integration with vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELS) into miniaturized chip scale atomic clocks, focusing on achieving very low phase noise using gaas or silicon. Additional tasks involve the design, fabrication, and testing of low noise, low power controls ASICS for microwave atomic clocks, as well as the development of fused silica glass chips.
