Title
SOCRATES: System-on-a-Chip Radio Transceiver for SATCOM

Abstract
Excellerix, in partnership with University at Buffalo (RI), proposes to develop a low-power system-on-a-chip (SoC) for manufacturing in a trusted CMOS foundry. The SoC architecture was conceived for power-optimization while delivering the required functionality for a satellite communication (SATCOM) transceiver. Its design is well-founded on previously proven analog and mixed-signal IP cores for an older CMOS fabrication node. These will be retargeted to a more advanced node during Phase I and fabricated in Phase II. The design will feature a custom RISCV based secure DSP baseband signal processing system with custom DSP accelerators, compiler support and system boot up capability.
Research Objective
The goal of phase I is to establish the technical merit, feasibility, and commercial potential of proposed R&D efforts and determine the quality of performance of the small business awardee organization. STTRs are completed in conjunction with a research institution.
