Overview
Government Description
Deploying Effective Compartmentalization (DEC) focuses on developing tools and infrastructure to automatically restructure legacy complex software systems into performant limited-privilege compartments that prevent initial penetrations from turning into successful cyber-attacks. Includes supporting the development of tools for evidence-based compartmentalization and cheri-based compartmentalization frameworks with a focus on temporal memory safety, porting software to cheri C/C++, and developing compartmentalization abis. Additional efforts involve release engineering for cheribsd, extending gdb debugging support, leading the compartmentalization of the chromium web browser, developing an industrial grade risc-v design, and supporting the development of the cheri and cheribsd platforms for compartmentalization.
