May 2016: Exelis Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Harris Corp., Herndon, Virginia, has been awarded a $10,357,560 modification (P00003) to previously awarded contract FA8730-16-C-0009 for the Air Force Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS). Contractor will provide use of InfiniBand Wide Area Network high-speed transport layer and data usage and dissemination capabilities. This effort provides direct feed of information without going through a third party, increased speed for data collection/processing, and cloud computing architecture, while supporting growing technologies. Work will be performed at DCGS locations, and is expected to be complete by July 31, 2017. Fiscal 2016 other procurement funds in the amount of $10,357,560 are being obligated at the time of award. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusetts, is the contracting activity.
