TEAMING OF HUMANS AND UNMANNED NETWORKED DRONE RESEARCH INCLUDES THE DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF UXS (UNMANNED X SYSTEMS) HUMAN-MACHINE TEAMING CONTROL STATION AND SBR&D (SCIENTIFIC, BASIC RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT) CAPABILITIES, INCLUDING LITERATURE REVIEW, REQUIREMENTS DEVELOPMENT, INTERFACE MOCKUPS, SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE, SOFTWARE CODING, HARDWARE INTEGRATION, SIMULATOR CONSTRUCTION, AND VALIDATION. ACTIVITIES ALSO INVOLVE CONDUCTING COGNITIVE TASK ANALYSIS, OPERATOR INTERVIEWS, AND HUMAN-IN-THE-LOOP TRADE STUDIES, AS WELL AS PLANNING AND EXECUTING GROUND AND FLIGHT TESTS, DEMONSTRATIONS OF ADVANCED CONTROL STATION INTERFACE TECHNOLOGIES, AND PROVIDING TEST SUPPORT SUCH AS LOGISTICS, DATA COLLECTION, AND AUDIO-VISUAL DOCUMENTATION. ALL EFFORTS FOLLOW AFRL (AIR FORCE RESEARCH LABORATORY) PROCESSES AND A SPIRAL DEVELOPMENT APPROACH. THE WORK FURTHER INCLUDES DEVELOPING AND DOCUMENTING PROJECT PLANS FOR UXS HUMAN-MACHINE TEAMING RESEARCH, IDENTIFYING AND INTEGRATING EXISTING MISSION PLANNING AND SIMULATION SOFTWARE, APPLYING SOFTWARE AND HUMAN FACTORS STANDARDS, CONSTRUCTING SIMULATION ENVIRONMENTS, VALIDATING SYSTEM PERFORMANCE, AND SUPPORTING TESTS AND DEMONSTRATIONS IN COORDINATION WITH GOVERNMENT TEAMS, INCLUDING THE USE OF COTS/GOTS UXS AND POTENTIAL UXS MODIFICATIONS TO MEET TEST OBJECTIVES.
