Sep 2020: University of Dayton Research Institute, Dayton Ohio, has been awarded a $60,136,587 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for advanced material processes. This contract provides for research, development, test, evaluation, qualification, integration and transition of advanced aerospace coatings technologies; research on erosion phenomena, development of new test methods and equipment for evaluation and qualification of erosion-resistant materials; development of advanced corrosion-resistant materials and processes that would minimize the effects of corrosion on safety, cost, and system availability; and predict the payoff of improved corrosion performance resulting from alternate designs, modified operational environments, and new corrosion-fighting technologies. Work will be performed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, and is expected to be complete by Dec. 30, 2025. This award is the result of a sole-source acquisition. Fiscal 2020 research, development, test and evaluation funds in the amount of $5,818,849 will be obligated at the time of award.
