Title
Radiation Hardened WiFi Access Point for Spacecraft
Abstract
With 8,377 satellites orbiting the Earth currently, and 55,000 more to be launched by 2031, USSF must develop technology supporting In-Space Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing (ISAM) to maintain space superiority. ISAM enables better ISR, refueling, and repairing in space. ISAM necessitates satellites communicating with each other to safely facilitate Rendezvous, Proximity Operations, and Docking (RPOD). Current wifi solutions for space that enable this type of connectivity are either limited by the radiation they can withstand or unrealistically expensive. Solstar will engage USSF units like Space Delta 2 and others to improve mission readiness by offering the the first-ever, novel, and unique WiFi card for USSF RPOD close-in maneuvering operations anywhere in space.
Research Objective
The goal of phase I is to establish the technical merit, feasibility, and commercial potential of proposed R&D efforts and determine the quality of performance of the small business awardee organization.
