Title
Novel Faraday COMSEC Courier Bag for Mobility Air Crews
Abstract
SLNT is proposing the adaptation of our patented RF-blocking Silent Pocket Faraday technology into a mobile COMSEC courier bag system approved by the DAF. Under this effort, SLNT will integrate our COTS MIL-STD-188-125-2 compliant Silent Pocket Faraday technology into a bag that incorporates new features that include slash proofing, audio blocking, lockability and tamper proofing as well as offering a low visibility profile. All of these additional features will be integrated through commercially available materials as well as from our partner network who have begun to develop acoustic dampening fabric, slash resistant material and lockable zippers. SLNT will demonstrate that airmen and warfighters can safely and securely transport sensitive mission critical electronics and information while in controlled and uncontrolled environments such as civilian airports and urban locations reducing the chances of enemy interception. The SLNT COMSEC courier bag is designed to support the Department of the Air Force (DAF) in keeping their classified documents and electronics secure from enemy surveillance. By combining SLNT's already commercially available construction methods and highly rated RF attenuation materials we can create a secure and robust solution for transporting sensitive materials at a moment's notice in any environment therefore increasing the DAFs readiness to move dynamically and in the spirit of ACE. The bag will feature advanced shielding capabilities to prevent electronic eavesdropping and unauthorized access to classified information during transportation. Airmen are currently using makeshift and less ideal COMSEC courier bags in the field and even building them in DIY forms. SLNT would like to upgrade the DAFs COMSEC and readiness with our commercial technology so that the DoD maintains a strategic edge in the global theater. Ultimately, the result of this Phase II project is that Airmen would be able to have a COMSEC backpack with all the necessary requirements for the bag to be an approved bag (COMSEC Tag, slash-proof, 2 physical locks, and colored red for immediate identification). This bag will be durable enough to withstand actual physical threat of knifes, brute force, and it will be lockable just like any other approved hardened COMSEC case.
Research Objective
The goal of phase II is to continue the R&D efforts initiated in Phase I. Funding is based on the results achieved in Phase I and the scientific and technical merit and commercial potential of the project proposed in Phase II.
