Research Type
Small Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR) Phase I
Title
Air Traffic Simulation, Learn, Interact, Visualize, and Experience (ATLIVE)
Abstract
Air Traffic Controllers (ATCs) are instrumental in continued National Security. Every time a DAF aircraft takes off or lands as part of critical missions, ATCs are there to ensure safety both in the air and on the ground. Without them, all operations would be significantly more dangerous. DAF ATCs are 39% undermanned and experience a 24.4% attrition rate as the DAF continues to rely on the same incomplete Tower Training Simulator (TSS) program implemented in 2001 wasting $47M on this program in the last decade alone. A gross waste of resources and a threat to National Security. UFA has the solution. We have designed a simulation and training tool that meets today's trainees where they are providing a modern, interactive, multi-touch, collaborative, and scalable training system with advanced voice recognition and response; the ONLY solution with the ability to rewind, rewatch, or relaunch training events without admin access or instructor inputs.
Research Objective
The goal of phase I is to establish the technical merit, feasibility, and commercial potential of proposed R&D efforts and determine the quality of performance of the small business awardee organization.
