Abstract
DLITE, a Deep Learning Immersive Training Environment, addresses the need to create a deep learning environment that can provide an environment for aspiring Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) engineers to apply knowledge gained through classroom and online training in a hands-on lab setting. DLITE's highly extensible, modular, and secure digital learning environment will be foundational for Department of the Air Force s (DAF) success in perfecting digital fluency. DLITE will be a critical enabler for modernizing the DAF s digital domain, innovating deep learning warfighting capabilities, and delivering capability. DLITE allows aspiring AI/ML engineers to apply gained knowledge and forward-thinking to develop new capabilities that will help reduce human intervention, improve task execution efficiency, and drastically decrease labor and operational costs. Additionally, DLITE will provide a broader set of innovation as aspiring ML engineers apply knowledge to applications. The expansion of data capabilities will help users develop a better understanding of digital tools and help accelerate digital transformation. This will allow the DAF to enhance its competitive edge and strengthen its technological stronghold.
Research Objective
The goal of phase I is to establish the technical merit, feasibility, and commercial potential of proposed R&D efforts and determine the quality of performance of the small business awardee organization. STTRs are completed in conjunction with a research institution.
