Title
Adapting Commercial VR-Based Training to Support AFSOC Mission Sustainment Team Protection & Security Training Objectives
Abstract
Street Smarts VR (SSVR) proposes to modify its proprietary software and COTS virtual reality (VR) equipment to create VR training to address the novel and emergent security and protection training requirements of AFSOC s Mission Sustainment Teams (MSTs). Research partners and practitioners at ALERRT (Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training) at Texas State University will support SSVR s customer discovery efforts and feasibility study. MSTs are composed of a diverse population of broadly distributed airmen, each of whom possess different degrees of familiarity and training in firearms and basic security TTPs. The overarching Agile Employment Concept (ACE) demands the airmen composing MSTs to be trained to a common standard to enable rapid global deployment in support of a broad array of contingencies.
Research Objective
The goal of phase I is to establish the technical merit, feasibility, and commercial potential of proposed R&D efforts and determine the quality of performance of the small business awardee organization. STTRs are completed in conjunction with a research institution.
