Title
Smart Mobility for Dramatic Improvement in Standard of Care
Abstract
IVEA is an innovative, 4-wheeled device for organizing common patient equipment that helps aid the ambulation process. IVEA can replace the traditional IV pole and be set up at a patient's bedside ready to move when the patient is ready. As a mobile equipment management tool, IVEA can even be set up before the patient arrives to reduce prep time at arrival and remain set up for every time the patient ambulates. For even more efficiency, IVEA moves with a patient during his or her entire hospital stay and has been associated with a 21% increase in ambulation in a recent study. IVEA can also assist in improving patient safety by organizing all the lines connected to the patient and equipment reducing trip hazards often encountered bedside.
Research Objective
The goal of phase II is to continue the R&D efforts initiated in Phase I. Funding is based on the results achieved in Phase I and the scientific and technical merit and commercial potential of the project proposed in Phase II.
