Small Technology Transfer Research Program (STTR) Phase I
Title
ARES DV Novel UAV 3D Printed Antennas Concept Study
Abstract
Radio Frequency (RF) transmission and reception provides the crucial link between and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and the remote pilot or ground control station. RF signals are heavily affected by geometry of the vehicle and proximity of the vehicle to obstacles. These interruptions could result in degraded or loss of communications with the UAV. Changes to the Antennae or RF systems may be costly and only provide minor improvement. This study will research novel solutions to this complex problem using an innovative approach to antenna manufacturing and design.
Research Objective
The goal of phase I is to establish the technical merit, feasibility, and commercial potential of proposed R&D efforts and determine the quality of performance of the small business awardee organization. STTRs are completed in conjunction with a research institution.
