Abstract
The Department of Defense, specifically the US Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC), has recognized an urgent need to fortify the nation's critical infrastructure against Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) threats. In response, Triton Systems aims to pioneer the creation of state-of-the-art EMP shielding materials and fortification processes. This enhanced EMP safeguarding will enable our electronic systems and infrastructure to better resist damage from all three EMP components: E1, E2, and E3. To ensure the viability of these shielding solutions, Triton Systems will rigorously evaluate novel materials and fabrication techniques through both analytical assessments and preliminary laboratory tests. We will set clear criteria for material selection, narrowing our focus to the most promising options and their respective application and shielding processes. Additionally, we will formulate material properties guidelines and design directives. Ultimately, Triton Systems is committed to producing functional prototypes that effectively showcase EMP shielding and hardening capabilities. We will define precise operating standards and testing requirements in alignment with AFGSC to gauge the success of these prototypes. Upon completion of SBIR Phase I and Phase II, Triton Systems will concentrate on refining our EMP shielding technology, gearing up for standardization and adoption across both commercial and government sectors. This entails active collaboration with key stakeholders to pinpoint critical systems and generate comprehensive documentation to facilitate the implementation of our advanced EMP protection solutions.
Research Objective
The goal of phase I is to establish the technical merit, feasibility, and commercial potential of proposed R&D efforts and determine the quality of performance of the small business awardee organization.
