Government Description
The requirement is to assist NASA in accelerating the introduction of megawatt class Electrified Aircraft Propulsion (EAP) systems into future aircraft products by U.S. Industry. This effort helps to identify certification gaps, and address gaps through ground test and flight tests. Additional work includes acquiring necessary ground and flight test data, developing system and subsystem requirements for the preferred integrated mw-class powertrain flight demonstration, establishing airworthiness of the preferred integrated mw-class powertrain flight demonstration aircraft, developing a system integration approach, and providing a safety and mission assurance approach for the flight demonstrations. Research and development activities in the physical, engineering, and life sciences are also performed, including aviation engine hardware tasks.
