Government Description
THE PURPOSE OF THIS CONTRACT IS TO PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE BROAD, FOCUSED, AND/OR INTENSIVE TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE (TTA) TO FEDERALLY-RECOGNIZED TRIBES AND OTHER AMERICAN INDIAN/ALASKA NATIVE (AI/AN) COMMUNITIES, SEEKING TO ADDRESS AND PREVENT MENTAL AND SUBSTANCE USE DISORDERS, SUICIDE, AND PROMOTE MENTAL HEALTH. INCLUDES USING A CULTURALLY RELEVANT, EVIDENCE-BASED, HOLISTIC APPROACH TO SUPPORT NATIVE COMMUNITIES IN SELF-DETERMINATION EFFORTS THROUGH INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT, CAPACITY BUILDING, AND PROGRAM PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION. TTA IS PROVIDED TO PROACTIVELY PLAN AND IMPLEMENT SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION AND MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAMMING FOCUSED ON NATIVE CHILDREN, YOUTH, AND THEIR FAMILIES, AIMING TO DECREASE RISK FACTORS SUCH AS POVERTY, UNEMPLOYMENT, RACISM, AND HISTORICAL TRAUMA, AND INCREASE PROTECTIVE FACTORS LIKE CULTURAL IDENTITY, COMMUNITY CONNECTEDNESS, AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS. COLLABORATION WITH OTHER TTA PROVIDERS AND NATIVE-FOCUSED ORGANIZATIONS ENSURES TAILORED RESOURCES TO REDUCE SUICIDE, VIOLENCE, AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE WHILE HONORING TRIBAL CULTURE AND GOVERNMENT-TO-GOVERNMENT RELATIONS.
