Government Description
This contract will support component a of the collaborative influenza vaccine innovation centers (CIVICS) program to design and evaluate innovative influenza vaccine approaches, based on principles of influenza immunity, that achieve durable, robust immunity. Includes the design and selection of hemagglutinin-based immunogens, biochemical and structural characterization of antibodies from animal models, and optimization of immunogen mrna for peak translation and immunogenicity. Additional tasks involve developing and testing mrna vaccines expressing multiple influenza antigens in animal models, establishing pipelines for epitope mapping and immune-response evaluation, and performing next-generation sequencing and proteomic analysis of b-cell and serological antibody repertoires. The overall effort aims to advance universal and improved influenza vaccines through structure-based and platform development approaches, including evaluation in preclinical and early phase clinical studies.
