Government Description
The purpose of this contract is to acquire services for the implementation of the usaid/Mali anka jiko activity which aims to improve the governance of rural water and sanitation infrastructure in order for rural malian communities to construct, maintain, and sustainably manage safe and reliable water systems. The activity focuses on technical assistance and capacity building for communes and water service providers to finance, operate, maintain, and repair rural water infrastructure, and to develop and implement strategic sanitation plans (PSA) as part of communal development planning. It also supports the design, contracting, construction, and rehabilitation of rural water infrastructure for domestic and productive uses, as well as fecal sludge infrastructure. The activity’s objectives include strengthening governance and capacity for water and sanitation delivery and increasing sustainable service delivery through new or rehabilitated infrastructure, with work specifically including increasing the capacity of citizens and local government officials to participate in policy and planning, supporting infrastructure operators such as Water Users Associations (WUA), and increasing the availability of sustainable safe drinking water, water for productive purposes, and fecal sludge treatment in the sikasso, bougouni, and koutiala regions.
