Provide reviews of disputed medical and dental health benefits claims and preservice requests. The contractor also performs consultation services and special projects related to these reviews. For each disputed claim, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) determines the medical specialist category, and the contractor assigns an appropriate specialist (such as a coding specialist, M.D., D.O., D.D.S., or D.M.D.) to review the case documentation. The specialist provides the government with a typewritten analysis of the case file, including a paper or electronic copy of all references cited in support of the analysis.
