BRIDGETOWN, BARBADOS - LOCAL GUARD PROGRAM. THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE, BUREAU OF DIPLOMATIC SECURITY, REQUIRES LOCAL GUARD SERVICES AT THE U.S. EMBASSY BRIDGETOWN, BARBADOS TO PROVIDE PROTECTION FOR UNITED STATES PERSONNEL, FACILITIES, AND EQUIPMENT FROM DAMAGE OR LOSS DUE TO VIOLENT ATTACK AND THEFT. INCLUDES PREVENTING UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS, PROTECTING LIFE, MAINTAINING ORDER, DETERRING CRIMINAL AND TERRORIST ATTACKS, AND PREVENTING DAMAGE TO ALL U.S. ASSETS. ADDITIONAL TASKS INVOLVE COMPLIANCE WITH HOST COUNTRY LAWS, PROVIDING INSURANCE, OPERATING AND MAINTAINING SECURITY AND COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT, OVERCOMING LANGUAGE BARRIERS, FIREARMS AND EQUIPMENT TRAINING, MAINTAINING A 24/7 GUARD STAFF, HANDLING LABOR ACTIONS, HIRING AND TRAINING HOST COUNTRY NATIONALS, TECHNICAL SUPPORT FOR EQUIPMENT, UNDERSTANDING IMPORT/EXPORT AND ARMS REGULATIONS, MANAGING CONTRACT TRANSITIONS, TRACKING GOVERNMENT PROPERTY, SCREENING PERSONNEL, AND RAPID DECISION-MAKING IN RESPONSE TO THREATS.
