Government Description
US Geological Survey (USGS) landsat science team. The USGS Earth Resources Observation And Science (EROS) center supports a landsat science team to provide research and technical services addressing scientific and engineering topics related to the operation and development of USGS landsat missions, both past and future. The team conducts research on critical issues for the success of landsat and the Sustainable Land Imaging (SLI) program, including data characterization and instrument science, measurement evaluation and performance, data processing and product definitions, data formats and access, user applications, scientific discovery, and integration of landsat with other international and commercial earth observation systems. The team provides timely research support to USGS on topics affecting current and future missions, helping mitigate mission risks and ensuring long-term data continuity.
