Small Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR) Phase II
Title
Federated Open Source Beyond 5G (B5G) Test Environment ¢ Enabling NextG AI/ML and Security Solutions
Abstract
ANDRO proposes to set up an open source 5G testbed that is accessible for remote and parallel use by government, industry, and academic institutions to foster and accelerate advanced 5G research. We are pinning a special focus on setting up an O-RAN-based RIC platform to facilitate AI/ML based 5G research. The platform aims to standardize the AI/ML workflow for advancing 5G capabilities. For a larger 5G ecosystem, ANDRO will collaborate with Northeastern University to form an ultra-large scale testing environment and will support easy porting of the testing instances and scenarios between the two. The RIC platform designed by ANDRO will facilitate the integration of third-party experimental tools to foster future 5G research. ANDRO will enable 3GPP Rel 17 use cases support and will also develop a zero-trust architecture to facilitate secure 5G networks for the future beyond 5G systems.
Research Objective
The goal of phase II is to continue the R&D efforts initiated in Phase I. Funding is based on the results achieved in Phase I and the scientific and technical merit and commercial potential of the project proposed in Phase II.
