X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) system. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) requires delivery, installation, and validation of a new XPS system to support research in the chips metrology program, including evaluating surface and chemical composition, probing buried interfaces, and understanding electronic structures. The system must be an Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) system with a base pressure of less than 2 X 10^-7 PA, feature a dedicated vacuum pumping system, leaded glass observation windows, vacuum gauges for pressure monitoring, software-controlled bakeout capability, pneumatic and mechanical isolation valves, and a sample load-lock or entry chamber capable of pumping down to less than 2 X 10^-6 PA before sample introduction to the UHV analysis chamber.
