Project 512A5-21-304 Upgrade Steam System Phase V - Patient Areas (Construction)   3

Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) requires contractor services to complete work associated with project 512A5-21-304, which focuses on upgrading the steam system in patient areas at the Perry Point VA Medical Center in Maryland. The existing steam and condensate distribution piping is failing and needs repair or replacement to ensure efficient steam delivery to various facilities on campus.

This project aims to maximize the condensate return percentage from the eastern side of the campus to the central boiler plant and address deficiencies in the current distribution system.

Work Details
The contractor's scope of work includes:
1. Replacement of complete steam and condensate piping and associated components in specified locations, including buildings and manholes.
2. Installation of new electrical disconnect switches for condensate receiving tank pumps across multiple buildings.
3. Relocation and replacement of mechanical equipment in Building 14H's sub-basement mechanical room, including demolition of existing systems, installation of new heating and chilled water pumps, steam-to-hot water heat exchangers, control valves, and pressure reducing stations.
4. New manhole installations with specific requirements for access and maintenance.
5. Compliance with quality assurance standards, including adherence to various building codes and regulations related to construction safety, environmental precautions, and worker health.

Period of Performance
The period of performance is expected to be 540 consecutive calendar days from the contract award date.

Place of Performance
The primary place of performance will be at the Perry Point VA Medical Center located at Avenue D, Perry Point, MD 21902.
