Background
The project involves the replacement of the existing steam boilers, boiler room equipment, boiler room system piping, breeching, controls, electrical and technology work at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fort Thomas, Kentucky. The work also includes the replacement of the existing chillers, chiller room equipment, and chiller room piping, chiller room refrigerant exhaust system, controls, electrical and technology work. The project will also involve the enlargement and expansion of the existing chiller room and modification of the chilled water system from constant volume to variable primary. Additionally, it includes temporary boiler system installation and phasing to minimize outages and disruptions to the facility heating and cooling system.

Work Details
The work includes the replacement of existing steam boilers with field erected low pressure watertube steam boilers, replacement of condensate receiver, transfer pumps, deaerator, feedwater pumps with an atmospheric feedwater system. It also involves upgrades and replacement to plumbing systems required for the replacement boilers including underground sanitary system modifications to existing natural gas, propane fuel systems and vents, water piping and other systems required for the boiler system.

The scope also includes modification to air handler AH-2 ductwork, rebalancing and exhaust system for chilled water scope.

Period of Performance
The period of performance for this contract is 913 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed.

Place of Performance
The construction projects will be performed at Fort Thomas Domiciliary in Fort Thomas, Kentucky.
