Asbestos Abatement and Remediation for VAMC OKC, OK   3

Background
The Oklahoma City Veterans Affairs Medical Center (OKC VAMC) is seeking to address health and safety threats posed by Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) present in various areas of the facility. The goal of this contract is to provide comprehensive asbestos abatement and remediation services to ensure the safety of all occupants within the medical center. The contractor will be responsible for adhering to all applicable regulations and procedures during the abatement process.

Work Details
The contractor shall perform the following tasks: conduct necessary testing and surveys by a certified industrial hygienist (CIH); complete pre-abatement work including creating asbestos abatement drawings; construct and maintain work area isolation; execute abatement work involving removal and disposal of ACM; engage a third-party independent certified industrial hygienist (VPIH) for oversight and testing, including Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) testing for decontamination certification; replace or refinish affected area finishes; and remove isolation work areas as indicated.

The scope includes isolating work areas, demolishing finishes as needed, conducting abatement activities, cleaning, decontaminating, and restoring impacted areas. Specific tasks include pre-abatement meetings, inspections, obtaining necessary permits, following infection control risk assessments (ICRA), coordinating with VAMC representatives, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding asbestos handling.

The contractor must also prepare an Asbestos Hazard Abatement Work Plan detailing procedures for regulated area preparation, decontamination setups, abatement methods, personal protective equipment usage, waste handling procedures, emergency action plans, and training requirements for personnel involved in the project.

Period of Performance
The contract is expected to commence on September 1, 2025, with an anticipated completion date of April 29, 2026.
