Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is issuing a solicitation for a contract to provide door maintenance, repair, and replacement services at the Asheville VA Medical Center (VAMC). The goal of this contract is to ensure the proper operation and maintenance of hospital doors, which are critical for the safety and accessibility of the facility for veterans and staff.
This contract is intended to support the mission of the VA in providing high-quality healthcare services.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for all labor, materials, tools, equipment, transportation, and supervision necessary for door maintenance and repair. Services include:
- Routine and emergency repairs of mechanical, electronic, and automatic doors.
- Preventive maintenance tasks such as lubrication, adjustment, and component replacements.
- Replacement of damaged or non-functional doors, frames, and associated hardware.
- Compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and hospital infection control policies.
- Proper disposal of removed materials according to environmental standards.
The contractor must respond to service requests within specified timeframes and provide quotes for each task based on established hourly rates. Emergency tasks will be prioritized with specific response times outlined in the contract.

Period of Performance
The period of performance for this contract will be from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2031.

Place of Performance
All work will be performed at the Asheville VA Medical Center located at 1100 Tunnel Rd, Asheville NC 28805.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must have experience in hospital door systems and comply with all VA rules and regulations. Contractors are required to have completed a 30-hour OSHA course. Additionally, contractors must provide qualified personnel who can demonstrate experience in similar services.
Background checks may be required for contractor employees accessing sensitive areas.
