Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs is issuing a solicitation for construction services to improve the Operating Room (OR) and Sterile Processing Department (SPD) HVAC systems at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center located in Bronx, New York.

The goal of this contract is to enhance the HVAC systems to meet ASHRAE standards for humidity and cooling temperature, ensuring optimal conditions for medical operations.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks:
1. Site preparation, demolition, and new construction of one rooftop chilled water system or similar backup system.
2. Design modifications for existing critical air handling units (AHUs) to achieve required comfort levels.
3. Installation of motorized automatic changeover valves to switch between backup and main chilled water systems.
4. Reuse and construction of roof dunnage to support new chillers in compliance with healthcare facility standards.
5. Structural work including demolition of existing dunnage, patching roofing, and providing necessary access stairs.
6. Mechanical work involving replacement of existing chilled water systems with new air-cooled chiller systems and modifications to AHUs to meet temperature and humidity requirements.
7. Electrical work including installation of power feeds for chillers and pumps from newly installed panels.

Period of Performance
The contract period of performance is set for 360 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed (NTP).

Place of Performance
The construction projects will be performed at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center, located at 130 West Kingsbridge Road, Bronx, New York 10468.
