Background
The Building 1 and Clinical Addition Legionella Eradication Construction Project is issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center (LAJVAMC). The mission of this project is to address the persistent issue of legionella contamination in the domestic water systems of the main hospital building, which poses a significant safety risk to patients and staff.

The goal is to improve water quality by eradicating legionella through various construction tasks aimed at enhancing the plumbing infrastructure.

Work Details
The scope of work includes:
1. Elimination of cross connections and dead legs in the domestic water piping systems as identified.
2. Designing and implementing a system to tie hot water into circulating loops, ensuring compliance with Plumbing design manual section 4.4.2.a regarding dead ends.
3. Installation of a supplemental chlorination system in hot water loops for Building 1 and the Clinical Addition, including continuous monitoring capabilities that integrate with existing Metasys Building Automation System (BAS).
4. Provision of a backup heat exchanger for the Clinical Addition and installation of a new hot water heater to support laundry and kitchen operations.
5. Installation of automatic flushers on all pipe risers at the last fixture on cold-water risers or branch lines, including power outlets under sinks for automatic faucets that connect with existing Metasys BAS.
6. Establishment of hot water temperature monitoring stations at the end of each loop, reporting results back to existing Metasys BAS, and tying existing water quality monitoring stations to Metasys BAS.

Period of Performance
The contract work is expected to be completed within 365 days after issuance of the notice to proceed.

Place of Performance
The construction projects will be performed at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center located in Clarksburg, West Virginia.
