Background
The project involves the renovation of the Historic Laundry Building (Building 18) at the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center. The goal is to modernize the facility while maintaining its historic integrity, ensuring it meets current operational, safety, code, and accessibility requirements.

The renovation will be designed in accordance with the VA’s Design Guidelines and will accommodate ongoing operations by conducting work after hours and on weekends.

Work Details
The scope of work includes:
- Full renovation of Building 18 including interior spaces, restrooms, basements, structural supports, waterproofing, and MEP upgrades;
- Abatement of lead-based paint and management of hazardous materials;
- Relocation and installation of electrical equipment to a new building;
- Construction of a generator enclosure and a blast-resistant aboveground fuel tank enclosure;
- Replacement of windows/doors with select historic units refurbished;
- Installation of two HVAC units with physical security protections;
- Exterior site work including grading, drainage, utilities, and traffic control systems.

The contractor must ensure compliance with all applicable codes including NFPA, NEC, IBC, IFC, ASHRAE, ADAAG, OSHA, VA Design Guides.

Period of Performance
600 calendar days from the date of award for construction completion.
