Background
The St. Louis VA Medical Center, Jefferson Barracks is issuing this contract to replace aging hot water generators in buildings 24, 51, and 53. The existing equipment has been identified as failing and not meeting current Legionella prevention requirements. The goal of the contract is to ensure reliable hot water generation for the facilities while adhering to applicable VA and local codes.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for the complete replacement of hot water generators in three buildings: Building 24, Building 51, and Building 53. Specific tasks include:

- In Building 24: Removal of an existing single steam to domestic hot water converter (3,000 MBU heat exchanger) located in the basement (Room G015) and installation of two new horizontal instantaneous steam water heaters mounted in a rack.

- In Building 51: Removal of two semi-instantaneous packaged steam to domestic hot water heaters located in Room BA-102, with replacement by two identical semi-instantaneous vertical packaged steam water heaters.

- In Building 53: Replacement of two steam to domestic hot water tube heaters inside tanks (approximately 947 gallons each) located in Room GS13 with two semi-instantaneous vertical packaged steam water heaters similar to those installed in Building 51.

Additionally, the contractor must provide all necessary supervision, tools, labor, materials, equipment, transportation, incidentals, and testing required for site preparation including demolition and removal of existing heating and piping equipment. The project encompasses general construction, alterations, mechanical work, plumbing work, electrical work, and other necessary items for the completion and installation of new systems.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed over a period of 365 calendar days from the issuance of the Notice to Proceed.

Place of Performance
The construction projects will be performed at the St. Louis VA Medical Center located at Jefferson Barracks.
