Background
The contract is issued by the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital, which is part of the Department of Veterans Affairs. The mission of the hospital is to provide high-quality healthcare services to veterans. The goal of this contract is to address critical deficiencies in the steam and condensate distribution system within Building 1, specifically to replace outdated infrastructure that has exceeded its useful life and poses a risk of catastrophic failure.

Work Details
The scope of work includes the following tasks:
1) Install new steam risers, condensate risers, connecting lines, valves, and radiators in Sections A-G of Building 1.
2) Construct new pipe chases on each floor from the attic to the existing crawl space.
3) Purchase and install all necessary materials for the installation.
4) Install new fin tube radiators in five specified locations, reusing existing heater covers where possible and ensuring control valves are accessible.
5) Disconnect and abandon obsolete steam and condensate lines safely.
6) Seal all obsolete connection points to prevent leaks.
7) Reconnect existing radiators to new risers with new fittings.
8) Insulate all newly installed pipe risers and connections.
9) Work will be conducted in confined spaces with adherence to safety protocols including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
10) Ensure minimal disruption to daily operations during construction.

The construction projects will be performed at the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital located at 5000 S. Fifth Avenue, Hines, IL.
