Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs is issuing this contract to update the wayfinding signage at the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital in Hines, IL. The mission of the Engineering Service is to provide oversight and management of the physical infrastructure at the hospital, ultimately aimed at improving the lives of Veterans, their families, visitors, and staff by ensuring reliable and efficient services.

The goal of this project is to enhance navigation for users by providing clear and understandable signage that guides them to their desired destinations.

Work Details
The contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, qualified supervision, and other necessary resources required for Project 578-15-008 (CON) Update Wayfinding Signage Hines as specified in the Statement of Work, specifications, and drawings. The work includes:
1. Removal and disposal of obsolete wayfinding signage and materials in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
2. Installation/replacement of existing wayfinding signage according to the VA Signage Design manual.
3. Installation of new wayfinding signage as per project specifications and drawings.
4. The project encompasses various buildings on the Hines campus including buildings 1 through 230 and CBOCs located in Aurora, Lasalle, Hoffman Estates, Oaklawn, Kankakee, and Joliet.

Period of Performance
The work shall be completed within 450 calendar days after receipt of the Notice to Proceed for the base bid. Alternate bids have varying completion periods: Alternate Bid 1 within 420 days and Alternate Bid 2 within 390 days.

Place of Performance
The construction projects will be performed on the campus of the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital located at 5000 S. Fifth Avenue, Hines, IL 60141.
