Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is issuing a construction contract for the Wilmington VA Medical Center to add negative pressure rooms in the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. This project aims to enhance patient safety and care by ensuring proper ventilation in critical areas of the facility. The contract is set aside for 100% Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB).

Work Details
The scope of work includes providing all labor, materials, and equipment necessary for the construction of additional negative pressure rooms at the Wilmington, DE VAMC. Key tasks include:

1. Site investigation covering mechanical, electrical, civil, demolition, and construction aspects.

2. Demolition of existing structures including saw cutting and excavation of concrete floors, masonry walls, and utilities.

3. Construction work involving general construction and mechanical installation of new distribution piping, electrical work to support newly installed equipment, and controls systems relocation.

4. The contractor must maintain infection control measures during construction and ensure minimal disruption to hospital operations.

5. Compliance with all applicable federal, state, local laws, regulations, and VA technical standards is mandatory.

Period of Performance
The contractor shall begin performance within 10 calendar days after receiving the notice to proceed and complete it within 270 calendar days.
