Background
The project is a rehabilitation of the exterior components of the Main Immigration Building on Ellis Island, including window finishes, re-pointing, replacement of deteriorated clerestory windows and skylights, and repair of the terra cotta roof. The project aims to replace all non-historic clerestory windows, remove and salvage existing hardware if compatible with new window systems. The project is a sources sought announcement for market research purposes, not a formal solicitation.

Work Details
The project scope includes rehabilitating exterior components of the Main Immigration Building on Ellis Island, such as replacing deteriorated clerestory windows, failing skylights, and portions of the terra cotta roof. It also involves repointing the exterior of the building, treating granite surfaces, and repairing and replacing portions of the terra cotta roof. The project aims to eliminate health, safety, and liability risks by replacing deteriorated window assemblies with new ones that are more wind and water resistant. It also seeks to reduce ongoing maintenance of the windows and replace the leaking skylight system with a new water-tight assembly. Additionally, it will repoint the exterior of the building to restore its weather barrier and structural integrity. The project will also address potential hazards of falling debris due to continued deterioration of the building exterior.

The anticipated period of performance is 731 calendar days including any potential weather shutdown.
