Background
The Industry Day for the Hyrum Dam Spillway Replacement project is being hosted by the United States Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation), Upper Colorado Basin Region. The purpose of the Industry Day is to share important project details with interested parties and obtain input on how to approach the more challenging technical aspects of the work, shorten the project cycle time, reduce overall costs, and address potential risks. This event will allow attendees to engage directly with Reclamation contracting officials and technical leads as part of a collaborative planning process.

Work Details
The work associated with the Hyrum Dam Spillway Replacement Project involves the construction of a new spillway and the removal of the existing spillway. This includes, but isn’t limited to: removal and control of water, construction of a new reinforced concrete spillway, riprap outlet channel, riprap inlet area, associated mechanical and electrical features, associated drainage systems, associated foundation aggregate piers, roadway bridge, gate hoist structure and equipment, 3 radial gates, dike, two new inverted siphons for irrigation canals, administrative access road and drainage, roadway realignment, and excavation and removal of the existing spillway structure.

The anticipated performance period is December 2024 through December 2027. The Principal Components of Work include constructing a new spillway, new gates and hoists, new hoist enclosure, new spillway chute and stilling basin, embankment dike, dewatering system, rammed aggregate pier foundation treatment, two new siphons, new precast concrete beam bridge, county road realignment construction, re-grade reservoir rim between the spillway and the dam, rerouting two access roads, mechanical and electrical equipment, demolition of existing spillway, and cofferdams.
