National Park Service - National Mall and Memorial Parks: Restore Samuel Gompers   2

Background
The National Park Service (NPS) is seeking to restore the Samuel Gompers Statue and the Edmund Burke Memorial located within the National Mall and Memorial Parks. This initiative aims to preserve these historical monuments, which have suffered from deferred maintenance and exhibit typical conditions of outdoor marble and granite elements in an urban environment.

The goal is to restore the sculptures and bases to their original appearance while promoting the long-term stability of the masonry and plaza features.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for providing all labor, materials, supplies, equipment, transportation, supervision, travel, and other necessary items to complete the project in compliance with the Statement of Work, maps, and specifications. The work includes:

A) Generally cleaning masonry and bronze statues;
B) Spot cleaning masonry to remove heavier staining;
C) Repointing mortar joints by removing existing mortar joints and installing new ones;
D) Applying a hot wax coating on bronze statues and plaques;
E) Applying a coat of cold paste wax to bronze surfaces;
F) Providing replacement rosettes for plaques;
G) Documenting all work with photos;
H) Removing existing landscaping and replacing it with new landscaping;
I) Documenting the monument with HABS level documentation.

Period of Performance
120 days from the issuance of the Notice to Proceed date.

Place of Performance
Various sites within the National Mall and Memorial Parks, 900 Ohio Drive SW, Washington, D.C. 20024.
