Kachess Dam Modification Phase 3 Yakima Project, Washington, Bureau of Reclama   4

Background: The Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) is conducting market research for phase 3 of the Kachess Dam Safety of Dams Modification Project. The estimated period of performance is in Fiscal Year 2024. The estimated order of magnitude for the project is $10,000,000.00 through $20,000,000.00. The estimated NAICS code is 237990 for Other Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction with a size standard of $45 Million. The estimated contract type is Firm Fixed Price (FFP) Construction contract pursuant to Part 36.

Details: The principal components of work to be performed include:

A. Mobilize to site and demobilize from site.
B. Excavate downstream face of Kachess Dam and foundation in area of outlet works conduit and demolish current outlet works portal structure.
C. Construct cofferdam within existing outlet works channel.
D. Install and maintain unwatering systems for removal and control of water within excavations during construction.
E. Maintain minimum reservoir releases during construction.
F. Install government-furnished steel liner inside existing conduit and install government-furnished bypass pipe between steel liner and existing conduit.
G. Install new, government-furnished plunger valve near upstream end of steel liner.
H. Furnish and install new transition structure near upstream end of steel liner.
I. Extend existing concrete outlet works conduit downstream and construct new portal structure.
J. Re-construct portion of outlet works channel downstream of new portal structure.
K. Place and compact zoned earthfill embankment materials within outlet works conduit excavation and new stability berm over outlet works conduit extension.
L. Furnish and install filter drain and filter drain inspection well, including all mechanical and electrical equipment.
M. Excavate trench for new auxiliary drain, place and compact new zoned earthfill materials, and furnish and install auxiliary drain, two auxiliary drain inspection wells, including all mechanical and electrical equipment, and concrete outlet structure.
N. Excavate electrical trenches and furnish and install new electrical conduit.
O. Construct new downstream toe approach road.
P. Install erosion control measures and complete restoration activities.

Place of Performance: The contract work is located approximately 45 miles northwest of Ellensburg, Washington in Kittitas County.
