Background
The National Park Service (NPS) is issuing this solicitation for the rehabilitation of the Visitor Center at Fort Donelson National Battlefield located in Dover, TN. The goal of this contract is to fully renovate the Visitor Center, ensuring compliance with safety and accessibility standards while enhancing visitor experiences through modern technology and improved facilities. This project is crucial for preserving the historical integrity of the site while providing updated amenities for visitors.

Work Details
The work includes full renovation of the Visitor Center, which consists of:

- A three-story glass and steel addition with an elevator to all levels;
- An interior interpretive and viewing area;
- Complete rehabilitation of the building’s interior;
- Restoration of key interior and exterior details;
- Installation of a new infrastructure including systems and utilities;
- Construction of a bookstore area off the main lobby;
- Enhancements to the Visitor Center Museum and exhibits;
- Implementation of modern media technology in the theater.

The project emphasizes compliance with the Architectural Barriers Act (ABA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and International Building Code (IBC). Significant life safety improvements will include new egress routes and elevator installations/retrofits. Upgrades will also be made to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural elements. The park must remain open during construction, but the Visitor Center will be closed to visitors.

Period of Performance
The anticipated period of performance is 365 calendar days from approximately July 2021 to June 2022.
